Brawler Blast Replaces Starr Road

Brawler Blast Replaces Starr Road

Brawl Stars is changing its Brawler collection route with Brawler Blast, a system announced in the August 2026 Brawl Talk that replaces Starr Road. Credits remain the requirement for unlocking characters, but the announced model removes the direct choice of a specific Brawler target. Once enough Credits have been collected, players enter Brawler Blast for a particular rarity and reveal a random Brawler from that group. The result makes the collection process less about following a visible individual path and more about discovering the character at the end of a rarity-based reveal.

Brawler Blast is presented as more than a new name for the existing collection track. The unlock takes place through a screen sequence in which players tap through the display and eliminate Brawler cutouts before the incoming character is revealed. A player does not know the Brawler identity before starting that sequence. What remains fixed is the Credit structure: Brawlers cost the same amount of Credits within their rarity, so the requirement is attached to the rarity rather than to a particular character in it. The announced system therefore separates two parts of an unlock. Credits establish access to the relevant rarity, while the reveal establishes which Brawler is received. Brawl Stars also announced 1,500 Credits for every player after the Brawl Talk premiered, describing that reward as compensation for the system change and for disruptions during the update.

How Brawler Blast changes unlocks

The central difference from Starr Road is the level of control over the final character. Brawler Blast still uses Credits as the route into a Brawler unlock, but it does not show a chosen individual Brawler as the destination. Instead, the system delivers a random result from the applicable rarity. That makes rarity the announced organizing principle for both the Credit cost and the available reveal pool. The material does not describe the process as a direct selection screen; it describes a reveal in which the identity is unknown until the sequence is completed. For collection-focused players, the confirmed distinction is straightforward: Credits still matter before an unlock begins, while the exact Brawler is determined by the Brawler Blast result rather than selected beforehand.

The reveal sequence also carries progression rewards alongside the character unlock. As players hit and eliminate Brawler cutouts, they can receive Gem Fragments. Those fragments help increase the power of the Brawler received through Brawler Blast. The Brawl Talk coverage further describes character progression involving higher power levels and build components including Gears, Star Powers and Gadgets. This gives the system two connected functions within the same feature: it provides the Brawler result and includes resources connected to building that Brawler afterward. The announced information does not change Credits from their role as the unlock requirement. Rather, it adds a presentation where the collection result is revealed through cutouts and where Gem Fragments can accompany that result. The 1,500-Credit reward is separate from that reveal flow, having been announced for every player as compensation tied to the system change and update disruptions.

New Mythic Brawlers in the update

Brawler Blast arrives in an update that also introduces two Mythic Brawlers, Cosmo and Vince. Cosmo is scheduled to debut in September, while Vince is scheduled to arrive in October 2026. Their announced combat concepts are distinct: Cosmo uses projectiles whose behavior changes as they move apart, while Vince uses coffee mugs and a Super that becomes stronger through collected moths. Neither announcement assigns either Brawler to a particular Brawler Blast outcome beyond the shared Mythic classification. The character information below serves as a compact reference for the two announced arrivals, while the unlock sections explain the collection-system rules that apply to Brawler Blast generally.

  • Unlock route: collect enough Credits, enter Brawler Blast for a particular rarity, tap through the screen and eliminate Brawler cutouts, then learn the random Brawler result.
  • Progression route: Gem Fragments can appear while the cutouts are eliminated and help increase the power of the Brawler received through the system.
Announced Brawler Timing and confirmed combat details
Cosmo Mythic Brawler scheduled to debut in September. His projectiles become larger and deal more damage as they move apart, and his Super attaches a magnet to an enemy that attracts projectiles.
Vince Mythic Brawler scheduled to arrive in October 2026. He throws coffee mugs for his basic attack, while collected moths strengthen his Super, with 20 moths stated as the maximum.

The August Brawl Talk also extends beyond the collection overhaul. Its announced Duolingo collaboration includes a community event beginning September 19 and a boss battle format involving a team of 20 players, questions, answer areas and buffs or damage based on the result. Alongside the new seasonal skins, Hide and Seek and other additions, that wider slate shows Brawler Blast arriving as one part of a larger set of announced game content.
