Gus, Chuck and Shade Get New Buffies

Brawl Stars has delivered new Buffies for Gus, Chuck and Shade, adding effects to their Gadgets, Star Powers and Hypercharges while also reshaping several core tools. The three updates are not identical: Gus receives more ways to support allies and control how spirits are used, Chuck gets a rebuilt Super structure alongside new Pole and dash options, and Shade gains additions intended to make his Gadget and Star Power choices more appealing.

Gus remains positioned as a support Brawler who can also function as a marksman, but the update puts greater emphasis on keeping teammates healthy and alive. His Kooky Popper now causes enemies hit by exploded, uncollected spirits to lose one ammo. Knockback Spirit, which throws a spirit that knocks enemies back before becoming a healing spirit, now spawns a spirit for every Brawler hit. Those additions give Gus more direct consequences for hitting opponents while creating further access to healing spirits. His updated tools also make the distinction between offensive and defensive spirit use more important: spirits can pressure enemies through Kooky Popper, yet they can also become more accessible to allies through his support-focused upgrades.

Gus spirits support allies and disrupt enemies

New tools across all three Brawlers

Gus’s Star Powers and Hypercharge receive notable additions. Health Bonanza still increases healing from spirits by 100%, while spirits now slowly move toward the nearest ally. Spirit Animal continues to let Spooky increase a teammate’s damage by 25% for five seconds, and it now also grants allies 15% increased movement speed for five seconds. Spooky Pop does not change Gus’s Hyper Super, but its balloons gain increased size and can pierce walls. Together, these effects expand the ways Gus can turn spirit placement into either a healing opportunity or a source of pressure.

Chuck’s changes begin with a different Super setup. He has four Super charges and can have four Poles by default. Using either a Pole or a dash expends a charge, and his Super no longer charges automatically. Chuck starts a match with a full Super and retains it on respawn when it was full; however, he does not respawn with a full Super after it has already been used. The revised structure is paired with changes aimed at shortening his setup phase and improving his ability to fight without relying solely on his Super. Rerouting removes the nearest Post and recharges 50% of his Super, then additionally gives Chuck a 20% Damage Reduction Shield for five seconds when a Pole is removed. Ghost Train lets him go through walls with his Super for eight seconds and now leaves a fire trail on the next Super that deals 1200 damage and burns for three seconds.

Chuck and Shade receive distinct choices

Chuck’s Pole placement and Super dash each gain further utility. Pit Stop still slows by 20% when placing a Pole, while the placement now leaves an area that deals 200 damage over four seconds. Tickets Please! still steals 33% of an enemy’s ammo when Chuck dashes through them with his Super, with Super Dash speed now increased by 25%. Full Steam Ahead! continues to deal 1600 area damage for each Pole hit during Super and additionally makes Chuck fire three smoke clouds in a cone with his main attack. Shade’s additions focus on the effects attached to successful attacks, movement and Incorporeal Form. Longarms still gives the next main attack 50% longer range, but enemies hit are now pulled to the center of the hug. Jump Scare remains a short jump that fears nearby enemies for 0.5 seconds on landing, and it now grants Shade a 1000-health shield when jumping. Spooky Speedster keeps its short movement-speed boost for hitting the center of Shade’s main attack; those critical hits also reduce current Gadget cooldown by 15%. Hardened Hoodie continues to provide 30% damage reduction in Incorporeal Form and now increases Super duration by two seconds. The Frightener still heals Shade for 1000 while he is inside a wall, while the center of his hugs receives a 50% increase to both damage and size.

  • Gus gains support-oriented spirit effects alongside enemy disruption: Kooky Popper removes one ammo from enemies hit, while Health Bonanza causes spirits to slowly move toward the nearest ally.
  • Chuck’s revised Super uses four charges for Poles or dashes, whereas Shade’s new effects attach added control, shielding, cooldown reduction and stronger center-hug output to his existing tools.

The update gives Gus more team-oriented spirit control, rebuilds Chuck around a charge-based Super and expands Shade’s options around attacks, Gadgets and Incorporeal Form. Rather than applying one shared type of improvement, the Buffies strengthen the named Brawlers through their own established mechanics: Gus’s spirits, Chuck’s Poles and dashes, and Shade’s hugs and movement tools.
